Our First Environmental Day

As for the conferences, we are pleased to tell that through a lot of work we could bring the creators of Life Pack, a Colombian entrepreneurial initiative. They created and currently lead a company from Cali that makes disposable products that are also biodegradable and can germinate into plants if planted into soil. They participated in and won Shark Tank Colombia, and have won several international and national awards. In addition, the YouTuber Sofía Garcés from Hear the Eco came and gave a conference. She is the director of the Environmental Table at the Los Andes University and a passionate activist.

Even if this day had a few inconveniences, the PRAE team is very proud of what they could achieve; they are already working on the next Environmental Day hoping it can be way better. They are confident at least some girls understood the magnitude of environmental issues and motivated them to start helping. Just seeing them filling their “love bottles” during recess proves the PRAE team has done a good job throughout this year and will surely continue with the same attitude.

The past February 21st our school celebrated its first Environmental Day. It had as an objective to teach all the community about Climate Change. It was planned and accomplished by all the Green Leaders from first to eleventh grades.

For primary and high school students, the day consisted of a few conferences and activities. For pre-school, on the other hand, it was just activities that lead the girls into basic understanding about what is happening on Earth; that way they too can help the World. Both elementary and high school, for instance, underwent activities about what is happening specifically in some of the most affected countries by the environmental crisis. The idea was for them to gain consciousness around the impact humans have on the planet, and to encourage them to find ways to help.
