Women: Our Story

pasted image 0 (6).png

Women have been always seen as the symbol of life and kindness, but they have not always been treated as they deserve. A long time ago, women were seen as nothing but men’s supplements and house cleaners. Society had this ideology that women were the sole laborers of a household and, therefore, they were not granted the same privileges as men. This type of mentality has endured through the years and women nowadays are negatively affected by stereotyping. Women have been portrayed on television as being submissive to men, showing the implications of a societal view of women. Also, depending on their chaste (social status), they had no right to education or participation and could get married from an early age.

From the beginning of humanity, women have had to go through several obstacles to become recognized, be able to participate actively and to have an important role in society. For a long time, women abstained from any activity that demanded effort and only had the duty to perform household chores. Nevertheless, customs have changed since the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century: women began to look for formal gender equality through various social and political movements such as feminism, which asks women to demand recognition of their own capabilities and rights traditionally reserved for men alone. The purpose of these movements was originally to obtain the right to vote and the possibility of accessing a property, eradicating discrimination and inequality.

Today, women have access to quality education, a job, and many other opportunities; however, they are still seen as weak, incapable and as sexual objects. Many of them do not have opportunities and still do not have a professional job. They are only in charge of the home and of taking care of their children, which is why many women seek to fulfill their goals and have been empowered in order to continue fighting for their rights. Women are unique

and awesome. We must take care of them

and respect them.
